On-site Worship is again open at
St Augustine's Anglican Church Mentone
In-person worship services are again running at St Augustine’s Anglican Church Mentone. For the next few months our meetings will be short, simple services that will focus on us again gathering together in God’s name, hearing his Word, praying together and receiving the Lord’s Supper.
Over summer this year we are running three services each week:
A simple service in the Church building.
A simple service in the Church building with a Sunday School for Primary School aged children every week.
A simple service in the Church building’s Fellowship Room.
Reopening Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book a place to attend services?
No. At this stage we are simply encouraging you to arrive early. With the further easing of State Government COVID restrictions we now have adequate space to fit our congregations and guests in our building during worship services.
Will there be a Sunday School for children?
Yes. Our Little Church Sunday School program is now running every week as part of the Sunday 10am Service.
Will Holy Communion be Served at the services?
Yes. We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper at all the relaunched Church Services. Communion is served hygienically with grape juice in individual cups (and no common cup). Those assisting use hand sanitiser and/or disposable gloves.
What hygiene and safety measures are there? Do I have to wear a mask?
We have a COVID-Safe plan that implements the current Victorian Government and Melbourne Anglican Diocese COVID-Safe regulations.
You will be asked to sign-in to meetings with your first name and contact number on arrival. There will be a registration desk at the front entrance for this purpose. Hand sanitisation is required upon entry.
We are asking people to bring a face mask to Church. Depending on current regulations you may be asked to wear your face mask while we sing, and/or at all times while indoors.
If you have a medical exemption to not wear a mask, that is fine.
Singing in our services has been reduced.
Please stay home if you have any cold or flu like symptoms and follow the Victorian Stay Safe Guidelines.
Will there be hymn books, prayer books, service orders or newsletters?
No. Our services have gone ‘contactless’, so there will be no handouts and we will use our data projector screen for words to songs and prayers.
I am not ready to come out to Church yet, is there still going to be an online Church Service?
Yes. We will continue to video our sermons and broadcast these each week on our website and our YouTube channel.
