On-site Worship is again open at
Mentone Anglican Church

In-person worship services are again running at St Augustine’s Anglican Church Mentone. For the next few months our meetings will be short, simple services that will focus on us again gathering together in God’s name, hearing his Word, praying together and receiving the Lord’s Supper.

Service Details

At present we are running four services:

Reopening Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book a place to attend services?

No. At this stage we are simply encouraging you to arrive early. We are running extra services, putting extra seating in our fellowship area and holding some meetings outside to create extra room.

Will there be morning tea and a chance for fellowship?

Currently we are not allowed to have morning tea or any post service fellowship within the Church building. After the service everyone will be encouraged to leave the building immediately through various exits. However you are then welcome to socialise outside following the normal Victorian guidelines for public parks and outdoor places.

Will there be a Sunday School for children?

For the remainder of 2020, we will be running a fortnightly 11am service for parents and children, outdoors, called Little Church on the Lawn instead of our usual 10am Sunday School. This service will meet on the oval next to the Church building. At present Little Church on the Lawn is next scheduled to run at 11am on 6 December and 20 December. We anticipate that our regular 10am Sunday School will restart in early 2021. Families with children are also very welcome to attend our 8am and 10am Sunday services and have their children participate in the entire meeting.

Will there be Holy Communion at the services?

Yes we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper at the relaunched services. Communion will be served with bread and grape juice in individual cups (no common cup). Those assisting will use hand sanitiser and/or disposable gloves.

What hygiene and safety measures are there? Do I have to wear a mask?

Mentone Anglican Church has a COVID-Safe plan that implements the current Victorian Government and Melbourne Anglican Diocese regulations.

You will be asked to sign-in to meetings with your first name contact number on arrival. There will be a registration desk at the front entrance for this purpose. Hand sanitisation is required upon entry.

The Church building has been reconfigured to ensure social distancing during services, and you may need to ushered into seating around the building. We can seat 1 or 2 people per pew unless you are of the same household.

You are required to wear a mask as per Victorian Government guidelines. Those leading the Service up front do not have to wear a mask if they are socially distanced. If you have a medical exemption to not wear a mask, that is fine.

Please stay home if you have any symptoms and follow the Victorian Stay Safe Guidelines.

Will there be hymn books, prayer books, service orders or newsletters?

No, as our services have gone ‘contactless’, so there will be no handouts and we will use our data projector screen for words to songs and prayers.

What Christmas services will Mentone Anglican Church have?

Christmas Services will be announced soon depending on Victorian COVID-Safe guidelines… It is likely that this year our Christmas services will be a combination of simple outdoor and online meetings.

I am not ready to come out to Church yet, is there still going to be an online Church Service?

Yes. We will continue to video the sermon and broadcast this each week on the Mentone Anglican Church website and our YouTube channel.
