Reopening Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to show proof of vaccination to attend a service?

To help meet the needs of all, during the reopening period we are running both ‘Vaccinated’ and ‘Open’ Church Services.

The 8am Sunday and 10am Sunday Services are ‘Vaccinated Services’ and you will be asked to show proof of vaccination before entering the St Augustine’s building. Proof of vaccination can be shown via the Services Victoria App, Medicare Express App, or a print out of of your vaccination certificate or immunisation record from Medicare or your vaccination provider.

The 10am Wednesday Service is a ‘Open Service’ and you will not be asked to show proof of vaccination before entering the the St Augustine’s building. Both vaccinated and non-vaccinated people are welcome to attend.

Do I need to book a place to attend services?

No. At this stage we are simply encouraging you to arrive early. With the further easing of COVID restrictions we have adequate space to fit our congregations and guests in our building during worship services.

Will there be a Sunday School for children?

Yes. Our Little Church Sunday School program will run every week as part of the Sunday 10am Service. Children under 16 years do not need to show proof of vaccination to attend Church regardless of their vaccination status. All of our Sunday School leaders have been fully vaccinated.

Will Holy Communion be Served at the services?

Yes. We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper at all the relaunched Church Services. Communion is served hygienically with grape juice in individual cups (and no wine in a common cup). Those assisting use hand sanitiser and/or disposable gloves.

What other hygiene and safety measures are there? Do I have to wear a mask?

We have a COVID-Safe plan that implements the current Victorian Government and Melbourne Anglican Diocese COVID-Safe regulations.

You will be asked to sign-in with your name and contact number on arrival through the Services Victoria QR Code App. A pen and paper sign in system is also available for those without smartphones. There will be a registration desk at the front entrance for this purpose.

Hand sanitisation is required upon entry.

We are asking people to bring a face mask to Church.  Depending on current regulations you may be asked to wear your face mask while we sing, and/or at all times while indoors.

If you have a medical exemption to not wear a mask, that is fine.

Singing in our services has been reduced.

Please stay home if you have any cold or flu like symptoms and follow the Victorian Stay Safe Guidelines.

Will there be hymn books, prayer books, service orders or newsletters?

No. Our services have gone ‘contactless’, so there will be no handouts and we will use our data projector screen for words to songs and prayers.

I am not quite ready to return to Church yet, is there still going to be an Online Church Service?

Yes. We will continue to video our sermons and broadcast these each week on our website and our YouTube channel.

New car parking!

With the Mentone Railway Station’s recent upgrade, there is plenty of street car parking on Como Parade West.

Where possible, please use the street parking.
